Hi
I grew up in Washington, DC, as part of a large, multiracial family with foster and adopted siblings—a vibrant upbringing that shaped my curiosity and adaptability. My journey has taken me through Boston, San Francisco, Bologna, Oxford, Moscow during the 1991 coup, and many places in between, with studies and work in theater, literature, and communications.
I hold a BA in Theater and Dance from Amherst College and an MA in English from Middlebury. I've also pursued graduate work in literature at UC Santa Cruz and completed the Professional Sequence in Editing at UC Berkeley. Over the years, I’ve taught English, drama, and literature at various levels, served as a class dean, and held communications roles including magazine editor, writer, and content strategist. I've also worked in some less expected places—from a veterinary pathology lab to a tech buyout firm to an opera theater.
As a copyeditor, I specialize in making complex ideas clearer, sharper, and more compelling. My work has appeared in over 100 publications, spanning topics like AI safety, online extremism, vaccine misinformation, and global policy. Clients include numerous Stanford University research centers, OpenAI, Meta, and international democracy and civil society organizations, as well as seasoned and early career academics.
Outside of work, I’m a reader across genres, an opera and K-drama fan, a word-game enthusiast, and a hobbyist rediscovering basket weaving and drawing. I live with my husband, Raphe; our daughter, Nikkō; and our endearingly bossy dog, Gracie.
