Copyediting Services FAQs
FAQs

How much do your
services cost?
Each project has different needs, so your investment may vary. When we first talk, I’ll ask you questions about the type of work, its complexity and length, the number of figures and citations, the level of editing you need, your timeline, etc. I’ll read a brief excerpt of your manuscript, and then create an estimate for you. After that, we’ll sign a contract and begin our work together!

How long does copy editing
usually take?
Again, it varies. Longer, more complex works take longer, as do those that need a heavy edit. A quick, simple line edit of a four- to five-page article might take up to two days, whereas a book manuscript may take much longer and will depend on how many rounds of editing we do. I’ll always let you know how long I think it will take before we begin.

Can I just use a portion of your services?
Sure! We’ll discuss what you need and work from there.

Do you offer payment
plans?
Yes! We can discuss spreading the payments over the length of the project, though generally there’s a 30%–50% deposit before we begin, and full payment is due by the end of the project. Payments can be made through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle, or by check if you are an institutional client.

Do you copyedit works by
multiple authors?
All the time! I love to collaborate and enjoy seeing different minds at work. At the same time, I’ll make sure the manuscript maintains a consistent message, voice, and style (unless it’s meant to highlight each separate author, of course!). Usually, I work directly with one or two point people at a time on the manuscript, though I’m happy to work with more.

Do you take international
clients?
Not at this time, unfortunately. I work with authors based in the United States and sometimes those based in Canada. This is primarily because of payment options.
